The Minnesota Timberwolves are orchestrating three-team trade talks with the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets, with hopes to ultimately receive Golden State Warriors guard D’Angelo Russell.

The Timberwolves, Hawks and Rockets have the assets that fit a need of each team involved: forward Robert Covington to the Rockets, center Clint Capela to the Hawks and potentially two first-round picks and an expiring contract to the Timberwolves, league sources told Wojnarowski.

For the Timberwolves, draft assets could be useful in a deal with the Warriors in a potential Russell trade or in other deals or the offseason.

Recently, the Timberwolves have been engaged in talks with the Warriors regarding a package that includes Russell.
