Velickovic to revive career in Panathinaikos?

After spending two seasons in Spain with Real Madrid forward Novica Velickovic could be on his way to another European giant in order to revive his career.

Recent rumorus suggest that the member of Serbian national team is attracting the interest of Euroleague champs Panathinaikos. Zeljko Obradovic spoke highly of Velickovic recently and is thought to be an admirer of his talent.

The most successful coach in Europe could be the main reason behind Velickovic’s potential move to Athens. Obradovic is regularly integrating Serbian players into the roster.

In fact, Panathinaikos were among the parties interested in Euroleague Rising Star Trophy winner when he left his native Partizan Belgrade in 2009 after two successful seasons in Euroleague.

However, Ettore Messina who was in charge Real’s bench, saw only a limited role for Velickovic in his team. This was felt strongly in his second season in Madrid.

Velickovic, who turns 25 in October, averaged only 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game in Euroleague this season with just 12 minutes of play.
