One of the best European basketball clubs Maccabi confirmed on Thursday that the Israelian champion is returning to NLB League for the 2011/2012 season….
The Israelian giant, which won five European titles so far and played another the Euroleague final against Panathinaikos this year, is back in the regional league after seven years. The decision was made by the Maccabi board and was backed by the fact that the NLB League grew into a serious international league, which can offer additional strong games during the season.
Maccabi announced the decision after the Israelian championship final victory against Galil Gilboa on Thursday, which is a 50th national crown for the club from Tel Aviv. Maccabi played in NLB League in 2002/03 and was defeated in the final against Zadar.
Maccabi will receive a wild-card for NLB League, the contract between the club’s Board and the NLB League Board will be signed in next days.
