Dwight Howard giving up $2.6 million for joining the Lakers

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, big man Dwight Howard giving up $2.6 million of his 5.6 million guaranteed salary in 2019-20 to the Grizzlies in a buyout.

“Dwight Howard will get his money, the full $5.6 million he opted into this summer. The man is getting paid. The checks are just coming from two different teams. To facilitate a move to the Lakers, Howard is giving back $2.6 million in a buyout with the Grizzlies — exactly how much he makes on a minimum contract with Los Angeles,” Kurt Helin reported.

The 33-year-old missed most part of the 2018-19 season owing to injuries, averaging 12.8 points along with 9.2 rebounds per game. As a Laker, he averaged 17.1 points, 12.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per contest.
