Estonia stunned Serbia

Estonia shocked Serbia at home (71-70) and created a chaotic situation in Group L, as the Serbians now have to beat Israel on Sunday (24/02) to advance to the World Cup.

Serbia led for most of the game, but never brought the lead to double digits. Although they entered the fourth quarter in front by eight, they saw the hosts tie the game, with six minutes to go.

Since then, it was a close game, with Serbia having the chance to force an overtime (71-68). But, Stevan Jelovac made two of the three free throws and Estonia earned the victory and improved to 3-8.

Now, the Serbians will play a do-or-die game against Israel, which also remained alive in the qualification race, after beating Germany (9-2) at home (81-77).

Serbia now is at 6-5, whereas Israel is at 5-6. On the other hand, Georgia (5-6) were eliminated, following a 81-69 loss to Greece (10-1) on the road.

In Group K, Russia and Finland beat their respective opponents and are now getting ready for their clash on Sunday (24/02), in a must-win game for both teams.

Russia is at 7-4, whereas Finland at 6-5. Whoever wins this game will join France and the Czech Republic in the World Cup.
