Lietuvos Rytas lifts LKF Cup after a thrilling final

Lietuvos RytasThe first title of the season went to Vilnius after Lietuvos Rytas defeated Zalgiris 84-82 in the Lithuanian Basketball Federation (LKF) Cup final. Zalgiris had only 7 players on their roster but that wasn't notable as the game was very close from the very beginning.

Lietuvos Rytas didn't do too well in the offense and let their opponents extend the lead which reached 7 points at the half time. The largest gap between the teams was 14 points in the third quarter.

Just when the game seemed to be reaching its breaking point, Rytas recovered and made a short run. They were still behind Zalgiris by 9 points before the final quarter.

Zalgiris was still ahead for most of the fourt quarter. Jonas Maciulis hit 7 out of 13 three-pointers helping his team stay in front. Though Rytas didn't give up. That led to very tight final minutes of the game.

Rytas had less than 24 seconds for the last possession being 1 point behind. Mindaugas Lukauskis received the ball open at three-point line and hit a shot with 2.2 seconds left on the clock to give his team the title.
