Greek cup in the courts

ImageTomorrow the quarter-final stage of the Greek cup takes place, with the eight best teams fighting for qualification in the semi-final stage.

The winner of the last season's competition, Panathinaikos, plays against Panellinios BC, who defeated the "greens" during last weekend for the 6th playing-day of the greek league. Also, Olympiacos faces A.E.K. Athens, Maroussi Costa Coffee plays against Olympia Larissa and finally, Aris BSA faces Panionios On Telecoms in the court of Larissa due to the team's discipline.

TalkBasket was present at the press-conference mr. Andrea Mazzon gave for tomorrow's game. Especially, he stated:

“Last week I mentioned that Panionios On Telecoms is a very good team, with ''deep'' roster and in any time can cover any absence or a player's injury. They have five big-men, four point-guards and we should not forget that they participate in Euroleague's stages, so they are used to play3 times a week. They won tough games against Efes Pilsen in Turkey and Partizan in Athens, so for us is a very good test in order to understand the greek reality. Also, some young players may have the opportunity to play -like Gaios Skordilis due to Lazaros' Agadakos injury-. As for the knock-out game, I have to state that our philosophy remains the same for every game, we have to play our physical game and to decrease our mistakes during the game. From tomorrow until 20 of December we will be playing 3 times a week, so we have to try to get used to it, as Panellinios BC did for example. If we are able to score 80 points and more in every game and finally reach the win, I will not be worried from the fact that we may lose some rebounds. I wish I had a ''problem'' like this in every game. The inside game has many situations, like transition game and definitely is not only scoring.”

Furthermore, Lazaros Agadakos noticed:

“Panionios On Telecoms is a very good team, with a great roster and their psychology is in its prime after their wins. As a team, we have proven that we can deal with difficult situations and with the right handling of the game and by playing tough defense, we can win. We have a strong motivation for the win, because Panionios On Telecoms last season managed to advance to the Euroleague's stages. As for me, I face an injury after the game against P.A.O.K. Thessaloniki and I am doubtful for tomorrow's game, but for sure, I want to play. Finally, it is different to play away from Alexandreio Melathron, but I want the fans to come to Larissa and help us reach the win.”
