Varda to replace Papadopoulos in Madrid? (updated)

Ratko VardaZalgiris is still in crisis and Spanish giants Real Madrid could take advantage of that. Lazaros Papadopoulos stayed in Madrid last summer as the club was unable to find another team who would be willing to pay his huge 2.3 million euros contract. Now the situation seems perfect to pick a replacement as Zalgiris will not be able to fight for Varda.

Serbian center was not registered for Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL) game against Kaunas Triobet. Lrytas.lt reports that the player left the club on Tuesday.

Ratko Varda previously played for Real Madrid after joining them in 2006. Though his left knee injury sidelined him for a long time. After recovery he was loaned out to another Spanish team ViveMenorca.

The main problem that Real Madrid could face in this move is finding a team who could pay Papadopoulos his contract.
