Siena crushes Real Madrid

After leading by as many as 31 points, Montepaschi Siena relaxed in the end and beat hosts Real Madrid with 77-95.

In the easiest outcome of the night, Real Madrid had obviously no intention whatsoever to play basketball and lost hands down to visiting Montepaschi Siena.

The visitors were already up by 11 after just 8 minutes as Malik Hairston took advantage of the protrudingly obvious lack of interest by the hosts to play any kind of defense, with the first chapter of the game closing with Siena up by 7 (19-26). Things would only get worse for Real Madrid (not that they cared) in the second period as visiting Siena scored at will and skyrocketed the margin to 26 points before Carlos Suarez cut it to 23 with a 3pointer for the half’s 32-55.

The only interest of the second half was to see the levels that the margin would reach, as not reaction was expected by Real Madrid who had already secured first spot in the group. The margin peaked at 31 (51-82) in the 32th minute of the game. Final score: 77-95.
