HIGHLIGHTS: EuroLeague round up (week 12, Thursday)

Week 12 of the EuroLeague began with two upsets as the champions and joint leaders suffered setbacks at the hands of Zalgiris and Brose Bamberg, respectively.

A three-pointer with 5.0 seconds left from Zalgiris’ Arturas Milaknis sealed an impressive 90-89 win over Fenerbahce in Istanbul.

The win breaks Fener’s four-game winning streak and improves Zalgiris to 7-5 with its fourth road win of the season. Kevin Pangos produced a career-high 22 points for the Lithuanian side.

Brose Bamberg recovered from 12 points down to end Olympiacos’ five-game winning streak with a stunning 67-65 victory.

Bamberg also trailed by 10 points with 5:39 remaining, but a 13-0 run handed them the lead as they held their Greek visitors to just seven points in the final period.

Dorell Wright led the way with 20 points for Bamberg.

Real Madrid moved up the gears in the third quarter as they beat Barcelona 87-75 in the first EuroLeague el’Clasico of the season in the Spanish capital.

Luka Doncic led the winners with 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists in a sublime, all-around display that included a full-court heave to end the third quarter.

Unicaja Malaga hit 13 three-pointers as they outlasted Khimki 93-84. Nemanja Nedovic scored 21 points to lead the winners.

Despite the defeat, Khimki drilled 16 triples in the three-point fest.
