With events in Cluj-Napoca and Istanbul finalised, Groups A and B still have a ticket left, respectively and today is the final day of first round action before the tournament permanently bases itself in the Sinan Erdem Dome.

Group A

Slovenia convincingly despatched of France 95-78 to finish unbeaten in Group A.

Greece punched their ticket to the second round with a resounding 95-77 win over Poland.

The defeat eliminates Poland despite a spirited group phase.

Greece’s point guards put on an exhibition as Kostas Sloukas posted 26 points with Nick Calathes adding 24 to go along with 10 assists.

Finland ensured that Iceland would finish their campaign winless with a narrow 83-79 win in Group A’s final game.

Lauri Markkanen stepped up again for the Finns and finished the game with 23 points.

Group B

Lithuania secured top spot in Group B by beating Germany 89-72 as they settle for runners-up in the pool.

Jonas Valanciunas led the winners with 27 points and 15 rebounds

Giorgi Shermadini saw his potential overtime-sealing basket rejected by Luigi Datome as Italy made Georgia sweat with a 71-69 win.

Marco Bellinelli paced the Italians with 15 points, cancelling out Michael Dixon’s game-high 29 for Georgia.

Ukraine have stunned the international basketball community by hammering hosts Israel 88-64 to qualify from Group B.
