France’s Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot has been ruled out of the practices, and the upcoming Eurobasket, due to a knee problem.

The promising 22-year-old suffered an overstress of his patella tendon which is known as patellar tendinopathy.

It comes as a disappointment to the Cannes native, who has just completed his rookie season with the Philadelphia 76ers, where he averaged 6.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 17 minutes per game.

France have announced that they will not seek a replacement for Luwawu-Cabarrot.

The 2013 Eurobasket winners will compete in a tricky Group A, alongside Finland, Slovenia, Poland, Greece and Iceland. The games will take place in Helsinki.
