Luwawu-Cabarrot leads Baskonia past Dubai for first EuroLeague win

Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot delivered a spectacular second-half performance as Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz defeated Dubai Basketball 92–85 at Fernando Buesa Arena, earning the Spanish side its first EuroLeague victory of the season.

The French guard scored 22 of his 25 points after halftime, including 5 of 6 three-pointers, to overturn a 41–42 halftime deficit and help Baskonia surge ahead 64–58 midway through the third quarter.

Baskonia had opened the game with a 9-point lead in the first quarter and maintained double-digit cushions early in the second, but Dubai fought back to take a brief advantage before Luwawu-Cabarrot ignited the comeback.

Hamidou Diallo contributed 14 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, while the team shot 40 percent from beyond the arc, improving on its 31.8 percent season average. The bench and starters combined to provide balanced scoring, helping Baskonia maintain control despite a late rally from Dubai.

Filip Petrusev led the visitors with 22 points and sparked a late 15–3 run that trimmed the gap to 88–85 inside the final minute. Luwawu-Cabarrot, however, sealed the win with two free throws with 30 seconds remaining.

Baskonia’s shooting from long range, combined with improved defensive focus, helped the team overcome a tough start to the season that included six consecutive losses, three by fewer than seven points. The victory gives Baskonia momentum ahead of its next home clash against Anadolu Efes Istanbul on October 31.

Dubai, which falls to 3–4 in the EuroLeague, will attempt to rebound at Valencia on Thursday, while Baskonia looks to extend its first win in Round 8.
