Andrei Vatutin: It will be impossible to compete with NBA teams over Milos Teodosic

CSKA Moscow president Andrei Vatutin has admitted that it will tough to keep start point guard Milos Teodosic if any NBA side makes an offer once the Serbian is a free agent on July 1.

Teodosic has stayed very tight lipped on his future and even though he is preparing for the Final Four, which begins on Friday, there will be no hiding the questioning on this subject by the world’s media as they begin to congregate in Istanbul.

But for Vatutin, he is aware that it will impossible to compete with any offer an NBA team might put forward.

“I cannot discuss candidates to replace a player that hasn’t left or might re-sign with CSKA,” Vatutin said to Eurobasket.com.

“Milos is unique. He is as unique as Nando De Colo, Victor Khryapa and all of my players. But if an NBA team makes him an offer – it will be impossible to compete with.”

Teodosic has averaged 16.2 points and seven assists a game leading to the Final Four where they will meet Olympiacos in a rematch of the 2015 semi-final, which was famed for Vassilis Spanoulis hitting a three-pointer with 9.9 seconds left to ultimately deny CSKA the win.

However, Vatutin does not have nightmares about the man known as “Kill Bill”.

“I prefer not to have male figures in my dreams,” Vatutin said with a chuckle.

“I have huge respect for Vassilis, and I cherish our personal relationship, as I do the influence of Olympiacos owners Angelopoulos brothers, Panagiotis and Giorgos, on basketball.”
