Olympiacos Piraeus delivered a dominant performance against Anadolu Efes Istanbul, cruising to an 89-66 victory on Friday night at Sunel Arena in Athens to improve to 3-1 in the 2026-27 EuroLeague regular season.
With the reigning champions‘ Peace and Friendship Stadium undergoing renovation, Olympiacos played its home opener at a different venue but gave its supporters plenty to celebrate. The Reds controlled the boards, shared the ball effectively and produced a major defensive improvement to hand Efes its third defeat in four games.
Jean Montero led Olympiacos with 16 points, while Tyrique Jones added 11. Eight players scored at least seven points for the Greek side, which recorded 23 assists and outrebounded Efes 49-31.
The difference on the offensive glass was particularly striking. Olympiacos collected 21 offensive rebounds, nearly twice its average of 11.3 over the first three rounds, creating additional scoring opportunities throughout the game.
Olympiacos established control early, using a 9-1 run over the final 4:40 of the first quarter to build a 26-16 advantage. Efes responded through its second unit, with Ercan Osmani and Santi Yusta providing energy and making three-pointers, but the visitors could only reduce the deficit to 35-31 by halftime.
The Reds had already secured 12 offensive rebounds before the break, exposing Efes’ struggles to protect the paint.
The game shifted decisively in the third quarter. Codi Miller-McIntyre, who had not scored in the first half, attacked in transition and scored eight quick points at the rim as Olympiacos rebuilt its double-digit lead. The margin reached 54-36 midway through the period, putting the hosts firmly in control.

He scored all the points during an 8-0 run, knocking down two three-pointers, including one off the glass, to bring the deficit back to single digits.
Payne finished with a team-high 12 points, while PJ Dozier contributed 11 and Jordan Loyd added 10. However, Efes could not sustain its comeback, finishing with 66 points as Olympiacos pulled away again in the fourth quarter.
The victory moves Olympiacos to 3-1, keeping it among the early contenders near the top of the standings. Efes dropped to 1-3 after another difficult result away from home.
Olympiacos will visit Valencia Basket on Tuesday, while Anadolu Efes returns home to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
