Denver Nuggets center Jonas Valanciunas will be reevaluated in four weeks after being diagnosed with a right calf strain, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The team later confirmed the update, noting the injury occurred during Wednesday’s win over Toronto, when Valanciunas was starting in place of Nikola Jokic, who is also sidelined with a knee injury.
The setback adds to Denver’s growing injury list, as the team was already without several starters.
Valanciunas, typically one of the league’s more durable big men, has played in at least 70 games in nine of his 13 NBA seasons and had been providing solid production in limited minutes this year.
With him sidelined, the Nuggets are expected to lean more on players such as Peyton Watson, DaRon Holmes II, and Zeke Nnaji as they navigate a difficult stretch of the schedule.
