AEK Athens-Aris ends in madness

AEK Athens defeated Aris Thessaloniki 89-84 in the third place Greek League Playoffs but that doesn’t properly tell the true story of this contest.

The tensions had already began to rise near the end of the first half, when Jerel McNeal of Aris was called with a second technical foul and was sent to the locker rooms, after being angered with a call by the referees. But the moment where things truly escalated was in final minutes of the contest.

AEK Athens players Dusan Sakota and Nontas Papantoniou got involved in a brawl with Aris’ Dominic Waters. After watching the instant replay, the referees decided to eject these players.

Okaro White, plus the coaching staff of both teams and the bench players, since they all entered the court during the incident.
