The Sacramento Kings continue restructuring their front office with several hires that connect back to general manager Scott Perry’s tenure in New York.

According to NBA insider Michael Scotto, the Kings brought in Fred Cofield as Director of Pro Player Personnel, Tom Perry as Vice President of Data Science & Planning, and John Halas as Director of College Scouting. All three previously worked with Scott Perry during his time with the Knicks.

The moves follow a series of offseason adjustments for Sacramento, including the promotion of Doug Christie to full-time head coach on May 1. With the coaching staff settled, management is now focusing on strengthening scouting and player evaluation.

Cofield joins the Kings with experience in professional player personnel, a role that will support roster analysis and free agency strategy. Perry will oversee data science and long-term planning, while Halas will lead scouting efforts at the collegiate level.

The front office changes come after the Kings entered the 2025 NBA Draft holding only one second-round pick. Sacramento traded a future second-rounder to Oklahoma City in order to secure the rights to guard Nique Clifford, then selected French center Maxime Raynaud at No. 42 overall.

The revamped staff will be tasked with evaluating talent around cornerstone pieces such as Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Keegan Murray. With several new players joining the roster, including Clifford, Raynaud, and veterans like Dennis Schroder and Dario Saric, Sacramento is preparing for its 41st season in the city.
