Germany has officially announced their 12-man squad for the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2025, with the team once again being led by captain Dennis Schroder, the Most Valuable Player of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

This will be the first major tournament at the helm for head coach Alex Mumbru, who finalized the roster shortly after Germany wrapped up a two-game friendly series against Spain – securing back-to-back victories over the reigning European champions.

Germany’s roster for FIBA EuroBasket 2025:

Isaac Bonga, Oscar Da Silva, Tristan Da Silva, Justus Hollatz, Leon Kratzer, Maodo Lo, Andreas Obst, Dennis Schroder, Daniel Theis, Johannes Thiemann, Johannes Voigtmann, Franz Wagner.

Germany’s build-up to the tournament could hardly have started better.

They opened their preparation campaign with three consecutive wins – two against Slovenia and one against Türkiye – before suffering their only loss so far, to Serbia in Munich.

They then concluded their warm-up schedule with two highly competitive clashes against Spain. The first, in Madrid, turned into a thriller that went into overtime, where Germany pulled off a dramatic win.

They followed it up with another strong performance in the rematch to close out their friendlies in style.

The German national team has been a consistent presence at EuroBasket, having qualified for each edition over the last three decades. EuroBasket 2025 will mark their 26th appearance at the prestigious continental event.

Historically, Germany’s greatest triumph came in 1993, when they lifted the trophy on home soil.

They also reached the Final in 2005, finishing as runners-up, and most recently climbed onto the podium again in 2022, winning the bronze medal in Berlin in front of their home crowd.

Now, as reigning world champions, Schroder, Wagner, and their teammates will look to add another chapter to Germany’s basketball history.

Drawn into Group B, they will play their group-stage games in Tampere, Finland, facing the hosts along with Lithuania, Sweden, Montenegro, and Great Britain.

Germany tip off their EuroBasket 2025 campaign on August 27 at 15:30 CET, when they meet Montenegro in their opening Group B clash.
