The NBA has officially announced the referee assignments for tonight’s Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center.
Veteran official James Capers has been named crew chief, joined by Josh Tiven as referee and Sean Wright as umpire.
Capers, wearing No. 19, brings more than two decades of playoff experience and has officiated multiple NBA Finals games. Tiven (No. 58) and Wright (No. 4) are both seasoned postseason referees with previous Finals experience as well.
This trio will oversee a championship-deciding matchup between two franchises seeking their first title.
The best-of-seven series is tied 3-3 after Indiana forced a Game 7 with a dominant 108-91 victory in Game 6 on Thursday. Obi Toppin led the Pacers with 20 points, and Indiana’s defense smothered the Thunder, holding them to under 42 percent shooting.
Assigning experienced referees to a Finals Game 7 is standard practice by the league. Capers previously served as crew chief in Game 7 of the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals and the 2016 NBA Finals.
This marks the first NBA Finals Game 7 since 2016, when the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena.
Tipoff for Game 7 is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
