Barcelona big man Shane Lawal will miss February’s Copa del Rey as he is due to undergo meniscus surgery in the coming days.
Lawal suffered the minor tear during the side’s Euroleague clash with Zalgiris in midweek, a game that Barcelona won unconvincingly 92-86.
The Nigerian international, who helped his side reach Rio 2016 at last summer’s Afrobasket in Tunisia is expected to miss up to two months of action, which rules him out of the Copa del Rey tournament, that commences on February 18.
Barcelona are currently the closest challengers to Valencia in the Liga Endesa table. The Catalan side earlier hammered Sevilla 108-54 to remain second in the league standings.
