There had been some expectation that Tyrese Maxey, who is dealing with a lower back sprain and a finger sprain, might make his return during the Philadelphia 76ers’ current road trip.
However, it now seems unlikely that he will return as hoped. The trip is set to conclude with a game in New Orleans on Monday, but Sixers head coach Nick Nurse indicated on Sunday that Maxey is not expected to be available for that contest, as reported by Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Nurse did, however, express optimism about Maxey’s return before the season concludes, stating, “I do expect him back (before the end of the season), but I don’t think he’s going to make it for today or tomorrow, I’ve been told.”
Maxey has spent 5 seasons with the 76ers, averaging 19.5 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.0 rebounds over 318 regular-season games. He earned an All-Star selection and won one Most Improved Player award.
