The EuroLeague basketball season is well underway as we move further into 2025. The 2024/25 season has seen some of Europe’s top basketball clubs go head to head. This has created some incredible moments and achievements in the sport. Each match is causing excitement amongst fans as we enter the final months of the regular season. So let’s take a look at some of the latest action from the EuroLeague.

Real Madrid’s struggles

Real Madrid has always been a top team in Europe. However, the last couple of weeks have seen the team struggling. Their most recent outing in Athens against Panathinaikos saw them falling short with a disappointing loss of 85-70. This is Real Madrid’s fourth consecutive defeat which is extremely concerning for a team that has long been known for its success in European basketball. However, that isn’t to say there haven’t been some great play and impressive performances from players on the team. Hezonja managed to finish with 18 points and 8 rebounds as well as Tavares 16 points and 7 rebounds. It just wasn’t enough for the team to see success. Especially as their major struggle was three-point shooting, they were only able to convert only 3 of their 26 attempts.

Even though they are struggling, bookmakers still consider them favorites to qualify for the playoffs after the last six games, along with Fenerbahce, Panathinaikos, Monaco, Bayern Munich, and Partizan. However, it’s important to note that the odds can vary between bookmakers. To get the most value from your bets, it’s worth exploring different sportsbooks to find the best odds and bonuses. If you’re wondering where to find sports betting promos, checking trusted review sites can help you discover the top platforms offering the most competitive bonuses and promotions — especially during the playoffs.

A narrow escape for Baskonia

Baskonia managed to have a little more success than its Spanish counterpart. The team managed to secure a much-needed win against Zalgiris Kaunas. This was a very close game with a score of 66-65, which left fans on the edge of their seats in anticipation. The game really went down to the last second. Both teams had incredible defense, it was Baskonia’s slight edge in scoring that allowed them to take the win. It was an incredible performance for Baskonia. Monke was among the players who stood out. His all-round performance allowed the team to stay consistent. Whereas Howard was able to step up during those crucial moments and score when it was needed the most.

While the game ended in a loss for Zalgiris, they still put on an incredible performance. It just wasn’t enough for Baskonia’s defense. This win means a lot to Baskonia, allowing them to keep their dream of heading to the playoffs alive. But each game will bring its own challenges, it’s hard to know if Baskonia has what it takes to continue to victory.

Fenerbahçe’s record-breaking victory

Fenerbahçe solidified themselves as one of the best players in the league with their incredible victory over Paris. This saw the score at an incredible 99-69. The Turkish Club didn’t hold back and even managed to set a new club record for rebounds in a EuroLeague game.

Fenerbahçe set the tone for the game very early on with 3 offensive boards in the team’s very first possession. However this wasn’t a fluke. The team performed consistently throughout the game. This even put a smile on the face of Fener boss Jasikevicius, who commented on how great the team’s fighting spirit was in the game. The outcome of this game has put the team in a very strong position for the league, with many teams now considering Fenerbahçe as a top contender.

The lead-up to the Playoffs

We are now heading into the final stretch of the EuroLeague regular season. It’s set to finish on April 11. Which only means one thing and that is that the playoffs are just around the corner. The current rankings show Olympiakos Piraeus, Fenerbahçe Beko Istanbul and Panathinaikos Aktor Athens in the top three. The EuroLeague format works by sending the top six teams straight to the quarter-finals. The teams who are ranked from seventh to tenth have to participate in a play-in tournament and compete for the remaining two playoff spots. Which means anything can happen. Teams like Real Madrid are fighting for their playoff lives. This is a crucial time with no room for error. Each victory is extremely important.

The EuroLeague season is approaching the end in a very exciting way. Things are getting serious as teams fight for their spots in the postseason. The next couple of weeks are going to be crucial. Even though there’s only a short time left, there’s still a lot that can happen. So be sure to keep up to date to ensure you’re not missing out on all the excitement and drama that the EuroLeague has to offer.
