In a detailed piece for ESPN.com, Michael Rothstein explores the local repercussions of what is considered one of the most shocking trades in NBA history, along with the Dallas Mavericks’ mismanagement of the situation.

This includes removing Luka Doncic from a promotional video on Friday morning. According to Rothstein, a longtime Mavericks fan and co-founder of a local PR firm described the trade and its aftermath as being handled “atrociously.”

“If all of them were aligned and able to articulate their rationale without bashing Luka,” said Stephen Reiff. “I think it would have helped, and I think it would have gone away quicker. [It] has made it a lot worse.”

Doncic has played 7 seasons for the Mavericks and Lakers. He has averaged 28.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 425 regular-season games. He was selected to play in 5 All-Star games and has won the Rookie of the Year award.
