Booker, Durant combine for 50 points as Suns edge Clippers

Devin Booker and Kevin Durant were unstoppable on Monday night, combining for 50 points to lead the Phoenix Suns (24-21) to a 111-109 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers (26-20).

Booker contributed 26 points, while Durant added 24, providing the offensive spark the Suns needed to survive a late rally from the Clippers. Phoenix has now won nine of their last 12 games.

The Suns led 103-90 with just over five minutes left, thanks to a three-pointer from Durant. But the Clippers responded with a 10-0 run, cutting the Suns’ lead to just one point at 107-106 with 40 seconds remaining.

Grayson Allen, who finished with 18 points off the bench, hit two clutch free throws with 10 seconds left, putting Phoenix up 111-107. Despite Norman Powell’s attempt at a buzzer-beater, the Suns held on for the win.

The Suns were scorching from beyond the arc, knocking down 22 three-pointers, tying a season high. Phoenix shot 46.8% from long range, with both Booker and Tyus Jones hitting five 3-pointers each.

Ivica Zubac had a monster game for the Clippers, recording 25 points and 16 rebounds. James Harden added 24 points and 10 assists, while Powell scored 23. Despite a valiant effort from Los Angeles, they couldn’t overcome Phoenix’s three-point barrage.

Los Angeles battled back after trailing by 13 points at halftime, pulling ahead 66-65 midway through the third quarter. But Phoenix regained control, taking an 83-78 lead into the final frame.

The game came down to a tense finish. After Allen’s free throws, the Clippers had one last chance, but Powell’s full-court heave was way off, sealing the Suns’ victory.
