Liga Endesa 2015-16 round up (week 17)

The 2016 Copa del Rey line-up is complete as week 17 of the Liga Endesa round up ended with Valencia still the undefeated top dogs and Laboral Kutxa still keeping Real Madrid at bay.

Valencia though needed overtime to get the better of Barcelona 94-91 at the Palau Blaugrana as they reach 17-0.

A buzzer-beating three-pointer from Barcelona’s Tomas Satoransky took the game to an extra session at 82-82 but as overtime progressed, Justin Doellman drained, what was thought to be a three, plus the foul, which would have have tied the game with two seconds left had the American hit the extra foul shot.

But after careful deliberation, Doellman’s bucket was instead a long two-pointer as he stepped on the line. After deliberately missing the foul shot, Valencia grabbed the rebound and saw out the remaining seconds.

Justin Hamilton had 15 for Valencia, Doellman and Satoransky both led Barca with game-highs of 17.

Andorra’s dreams of a shock  Copa del Rey appearance were dashed as they lost 95-83 to Laboral Kutxa.

The result drops Andorra out of the top eight as Ionnis Bourousis’ 26 points kept Laboral Kutxa in the top three.

Andorra’s fall was a result of Fuenlabrada’s 80-79 win at Zaragoza as Marko Popovic drained a three with 31.7 seconds left to give them the ticket to the Copa del Rey.

Real Madrid got back to winning ways after they beat Unicaja Malaga 85-80 in a heavyweight clash. Malaga’s current eighth spot would have been good enough but as the lowest ranked side, they have had to give up their spot to the Copa del Rey hosts Rio Monbus, who currently occupy 14th spot.

The Copa del Rey hosts lost 88-83 away to Bilbao with the latter qualifying for the tournament thanks to the win.

Elsewhere around the league, Gran Canaria booked their spot with a comfortable 87-70 win on the road to Estudiantes. Tenerife got the better of UCAM Murcia 70-69. Manresa eased to an 84-67 win over Sevilla and Joventut Badalona beat basement side Gipuzkoa 74-70.

Copa de Rey line-up: Valencia, Barcelona, Laboral Kutxa, Real Madrid, Gran Canaria, Bilbao, Fuenlabrada and Rio Monbus (hosts).
