Williams and Gilgeous-Alexander propel Thunder to win over Magic

Jalen Williams and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a decisive 102-86 victory against the Orlando Magic on Monday night. The Thunder remain the only unbeaten team in the Western Conference, improving their record to 7-0.

Williams scored 23 points, while Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 21 points and dished out nine assists. Chet Holmgren added 14 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.

The Thunder’s offense was efficient, with five players reaching double figures. Isaiah Joe scored 13 points, while Aaron Wiggins added 11. Oklahoma City shot 45.9% from the field and demonstrated strong perimeter shooting.

In contrast, the Magic struggled offensively, connecting on just 29 of 82 attempts for a shooting percentage of 35.4%. Franz Wagner led Orlando with 22 points, and Jalen Suggs added 19 points, but the team lacked scoring depth.

Orlando played without key starters, including Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr., due to injuries. Newcomer Kentavious Caldwell-Pope was limited to six points on 1-for-7 shooting, and Anthony Black managed only three points on 1-for-8 shooting.

Gilgeous-Alexander set a career-high with seven assists in the first quarter. His playmaking ability helped facilitate the Thunder’s offensive flow early in the game.

The Thunder’s three-point shooting was a crucial factor in their victory. They made 12 of 31 attempts from beyond the arc, while the Magic struggled mightily, making just 5 of 34 three-point attempts for the game.

Orlando managed to score only 43 points by halftime and finished the third quarter with 58 points. The lack of offensive production hindered their ability to mount a comeback.

Despite their challenges, the Magic fought hard throughout the game. Goga Bitadze contributed 11 points and nine rebounds, showing his resilience in the paint. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Thunder’s balanced attack.
