Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has suffered a left calf injury just ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season. The team announced that the 25-year-old will be re-evaluated in one week.
NBA insider Shams Charania was among the first to break the news, tweeting: “Mavericks say Luka Doncic suffered a left calf contusion and will be re-evaluated in one week.”
Head coach Jason Kidd provided more details during a media session, explaining that Doncic reported tightness in his calf after a practice session. “He got hit in the calf, reported it tight, so they got an MRI and saw that it was a strain,” Kidd said, per Eddie Sefko. “There’s no concern at this point about his availability. We’ll see how he feels in a week.”
The injury, while concerning, is not expected to impact Doncic’s availability for the regular season. However, Doncic is unlikely to play in the Mavericks’ first preseason game against the Memphis Grizzlies on October 7.
