Christian Koloko could return to the Toronto Raptors after a long hiatus, reports Aaron Rose of Sports Illustrated.
The 24-year-old center has been out of NBA action for nearly 16 months due to a serious blood clot issue.
Koloko, the No. 33 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, last played for the Raptors with a notable performance against the Milwaukee Bucks.
He missed all of last season and was waived by Toronto in January, being placed under the league’s Fitness-to-Play panel.
Recent developments offer renewed hope for his NBA return.
“We had a major breakthrough with his blood clot issue,” Koloko’s agent, Calvin Andrews, told Sports Illustrated.
Koloko has been off blood thinners for a month and is set to undergo a scan in two weeks to assess his recovery progress.
His doctors have recently cleared him for full-contact drills, a positive sign for his return.
While he is still awaiting official clearance from the NBA’s Fitness-to-Play panel, several teams, including the Raptors, have shown interest.
