Steve Kerr on facing Serbia: “We have to be prepared for their best effort”

Team USA will face Serbia in the semifinals of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games today.

Despite winning their previous encounters this summer, Team USA head coach Steve Kerr emphasizes the need for vigilance.

The Americans first defeated Serbia 105-79 in a friendly game in Abu Dhabi, and then secured a 110-84 victory in the Olympic group stage.

Kerr cautions against complacency, stressing the importance of preparing for Serbia’s strongest performance.

“We can’t get lulled to sleep because we beat them twice,” Kerr said, via ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. “We have to be prepared for their best effort.”

Kerr also noted that Serbia could make adjustments, including the potential for Nikola Jokic to play extensive minutes.

“We’ve got to think about what are they going to do differently. Jokic, I guess he could play 40 minutes. What else do they have up their sleeve?” he said.
