The Denver Nuggets reportedly considered trading Michael Porter Jr. in a potential deal to acquire Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers.
Sources revealed this possibility to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports before George signed a four-year, $212 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.
Porter, entering the third year of his five-year, $179 million contract with Denver, played a crucial role in helping the Nuggets win the 2023 NBA championship.
The idea of including Porter in a trade was part of Denver’s strategy to strengthen their roster by adding a star player like George.
However, George’s cap number was a significant factor, making it difficult for the Clippers to consider such a trade under the new CBA.
Denver’s interest in George highlights their desire to build a more competitive team around reigning MVP Nikola Jokic.
