In the midst of the Los Angeles Lakers’ quest for a new head coach, LeBron James has reportedly taken a backseat in the decision-making process.

Per Dave McMenamin, according to sources familiar with the situation, James has not engaged in any discussions with the Lakers regarding potential coaching candidates, including Dan Hurley and JJ Redick.

Despite his stature within the organization, James has opted to defer to the Lakers’ management and front office in their pursuit of the right coach to lead the team forward.

Through his representatives, James has conveyed a message of support for the Lakers’ decision-making process, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the team’s long-term success.

Amid swirling rumors surrounding potential coaching candidates, including Redick and Hurley, James remains focused on his own role within the team and the upcoming NBA season.

While Redick was initially speculated to be a frontrunner for the coaching position, recent reports indicate that Hurley, currently the head coach at UConn, has emerged as a leading contender.

Despite Hurley’s sudden prominence in the coaching search, there was little mention of his name in media discussions until recently.
