The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly narrowing their search for their next head coach, with former NBA player JJ Redick emerging as the frontrunner for the position.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Lakers are seriously considering Redick to lead their team in the upcoming season.

While no final decision has been made yet, indications suggest that Redick is currently the leading choice for the Lakers’ head coaching role.

The franchise has been focusing its search primarily on Redick and Pelicans associate head coach James Borrego in recent weeks.

The Lakers have conducted interviews with several other candidates, including Boston Celtics assistant Sam Cassell, Miami Heat assistant Chris Quinn, Minnesota Timberwolves assistant Micah Nori, and Denver Nuggets assistant David Adelman. However, sources indicate that Redick has emerged as a top choice for the franchise.

Legendary former Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, who coached Redick in college, has reportedly been providing valuable insights to the Lakers throughout their coaching search.

Despite Redick’s lack of coaching experience, Lakers officials are said to be “infatuated” with his potential as a coach.

Redick’s high-profile playing career, media presence, and recent podcast collaboration with LeBron James on Mind the Game podcast have contributed to his visibility in coaching discussions.
