Jaren Jackson Jr. drops 40 points as Grizzlies edge Pistons

Jaren Jackson Jr. dropped 40 points to propel the Memphis Grizzlies (25-50) to a narrow 110-108 victory over the Detroit Pistons (13-62).

Memphis trailed 57-44 at halftime, but Jackson’s explosive 21-point display in the third quarter shifted the momentum in their favor.

Despite a spirited effort from Cade Cunningham, who notched 36 points for the Pistons, his last-second attempt to tie the game fell short.

Cunningham received support from Jaden Ivey (20 points) and Chimezie Metu (17 points, 8 rebounds). James Wiseman added a double-double off the bench (10 points, 10 rebounds).

Former Piston Luke Kennard also made a significant contribution with 19 points and eight assists for the Grizzlies. Brandon Clarke added 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

The victory comes as a relief for Memphis, which had previously lost three straight games and seven of their last eight.

On the other hand, the Pistons continue to struggle, losing nine out of their last ten games.
