Mo Bamba: “You tend to chase big plays”

The Philadelphia 76ers big man Mohamed Bamba has been starting at center for nine of the past 10 games due to Joel Embiid’s absence. Bamba expressed that starting allows him to better establish himself in the flow of the game.

He emphasized the importance of early defensive presence as a starter, contrasting it with the need to quickly find rhythm coming off the bench. According to Bamba, bench players often seek big plays, which can lead to either great success or failure.

“It’s all about establishing myself early on in the game, defensively,” he said. “When you’re coming off the bench, you kind of have to catch a rhythm as quick as possible.

“You tend to chase big plays. When you chase big plays, you chase home runs. It tends to either go really well or really bad.”
