Steve Clifford: “Trying to win every game is a big thing”

Despite facing injuries and accumulating losses, Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford remains committed to competing in the remaining 21 games of the season and refuses to consider tanking.

The Hornets, currently with a record of 15-46, have encountered a challenging stretch with five key players sidelined.

Despite their fourth-worst league record, Clifford emphasizes a competitive approach and rejects the idea of deliberately aiming for a higher draft position, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a competitive mindset for the rest of the season.

“Look, we’re shorthanded and there’s a big difference between in some of the games you play, there’s going to be a real challenge to win,” Clifford said.

“But that doesn’t mean you play losing basketball. And there’s a big difference between teams that just pack it in and teams that play the right way and win. And I think as an organization, I think trying to win every game is a big thing.”
