In a recent interview with The Denver Post, NBA luminary Bill Walton lavished praise on Denver Nuggets’ center Nikola Jokic, asserting that the two-time MVP is unequivocally the best player in he world.

“His celebration of life through basketball, his focus on the team … he’s better than perfect. He’s Nikola Jokic,” Walton told Bennet Durando of The Denver Post, emphasizing Jokic’s unique approach to the game.

Contrary to the prevailing notion that Jokic is primarily a passing big man, Walton adamantly proclaimed, “He’s one of the great basketball players ever,” urging against pigeonholing him into a specific role.

“It’s a disservice to (Jokic) to limit him. He’s an incredible scorer. He’s a fantastic rebounder. He’s an incredible passer,” Walton remarked, underscoring Jokic’s multifaceted skill set.

Beyond statistics, Walton commended Jokic for infusing joy, happiness, and purpose into the game, embodying the essence of substance over hype.

“He plays with purpose. He plays to win the games. And he does it with beautiful style, grace, dignity, professionalism,” Walton remarked, highlighting Jokic’s impact beyond the box score.

This season Jokic is averaging 26 points, 12.2 rebounds and 9.1 assists in 33.8 minutes per game. The Nuggets (38-19) are currently fourth in the Western Conference, with two games back behind the leading Minnesota Timberwolves (40-17).
