Amid ongoing frustrations and in a move to reset mindsets, the Los Angeles Clippers have opted to send two of their players, Bones Hyland and PJ Tucker, home as the team prepares to face the Golden State Warriors.
According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Tucker will take time away from the Clippers to recalibrate, with plans to rejoin the team following the All-Star break.
Additionally, both Hyland and Tucker have been sent home from the road trip against the Warriors, with expectations for their return after the break.
Throughout the season, both Hyland and Tucker have seen limited playing time with the Clippers. Tucker, at 38 years old, has appeared in 12 games, averaging 1.3 points and 2.9 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game. Meanwhile, Hyland has averaged 6.2 points and 1.7 assists in 13.2 minutes per game.
Tucker’s desire to contribute on the court has been evident, expressing a willingness to play for either the Clippers or another championship contender.
With the trade deadline passing without a move, Tucker remains a potential buyout candidate as the team looks to optimize its roster for the remainder of the season. Though it was reported that the player won’t seek a buyout.
