In a recent standout performance for the Golden State Warriors, rookie Brandin Podziemski made waves both on and off the court.

The 19th overall draft pick, filling in for Klay Thompson, notched 11 points and six assists against the Philadelphia 76ers. What caught everyone’s attention, however, was Podziemski’s bold self-assessment as “mini Draymond,” drawing parallels to his teammate Draymond Green.

Steph Curry, informed of Podziemski’s moniker post-game and the rookie’s selection for the Rookie and Sophomore game during the upcoming All-Star Weekend, expressed his enthusiasm.

Curry, with a smile, responded, “He said that? I love it. I love it. I love that guy so much. Great honor, great acknowledgment, considering where he’s been the last three years from college to now.”

The four-time NBA champion, appreciative of Podziemski’s confidence and energy on the court, acknowledged the rookie’s journey and the significance of the comparison.

However, he humorously deferred the judgment of the comparison to Podziemski and Green, stating, “I don’t know about that comparison though. I’ll let him and Draymond figure out their similarities and differences. But I just love his confidence when he’s out there.”

The veteran guard praised Podziemski’s attitude, emphasizing his belief in belonging on the NBA stage. Recognizing the challenge of filling the “big shoes” of Green, Curry commended the rookie’s growth and expressed confidence in his continuous improvement.

In the current NBA season, Podziemski, at 20 years old, has been contributing significantly, averaging 9.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 24.9 minutes per game.
