Steph Curry criticizes officiating discrepancies in Warriors’ nail-biter against Lakers

In an electrifying double-overtime clash, LeBron James and Stephen Curry engaged in a mesmerizing duel, ultimately seeing the Lakers edge past the Warriors 145-144. However, Curry’s post-game remarks shed light on his frustration with the officiating, emphasizing the need for consistency.

The Lakers, fueled by James’ extraordinary triple-double performance (36 points, a career-high 20 rebounds, and 12 assists), secured a hard-fought victory against the Golden State Warriors. Despite Curry’s remarkable 46-point contribution, he couldn’t help but express discontent with the officiating.

Curry, who shot just three free-throws, pointed out a significant free-throw disparity, with the Lakers attempting 43 free throws compared to the Warriors’ mere 16.

In the post-game press conference, Curry stated, “We’ve had this conversation, especially playing against them, they draw a lot of fouls.” This reference to past encounters highlighted a recurring concern for the Warriors.

The star guard continued to voice his frustration, emphasizing the impact inconsistent officiating can have on the flow of the game.

Curry stated, “Tonight is just one of those where it’s just not consistent, and that’s the most frustrating part because you want to be in a place where the players decide the game.”

The four-time NBA champion went on to pinpoint specific instances where he believed the officiating was inconsistent. He mentioned plays where the calls appeared to favor the Lakers, leading to unnecessary free-throw attempts, while similar plays on the Warriors’ end were overlooked.

In a game where the Warriors’ three-point shooting style is a crucial element, Curry highlighted the challenges posed by inconsistent officiating.

“We shoot a lot of threes. I know that there’s a different style, but there’s probably three plays I was involved in where it’s just a clear bad call in the sense of giving guys unnecessary free-throw attempts.”
