As the Sacramento Kings, currently holding the sixth spot in the Western Conference with a 25-18 record, aim to reinforce their roster, reports suggest a keen interest in Brooklyn Nets players Royce O’Neale and Dorian Finney-Smith ahead of the February 8 trade deadline.
NBA insider Sam Amick of The Athletic revealed on The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross that the Kings are showing interest in Brooklyn Nets players Royce O’Neale and Dorian Finney-Smith.
In discussing potential trade targets, Amick stated, “The names last night that were new a little bit for me in relation to the Kings were Royce O’Neale and Dorian Finney-Smith. I thought those were kind of interesting. Maybe not as sexy so to speak as [Kyle] Kuzma, who’s going to bring you scoring and the offensive side of the ball. But this is a bad defensive team that’s trying to get better. Those guys could help.”
Amick further emphasized the Kings’ commitment to defensive improvement, noting that while Kuzma might offer offensive firepower, O’Neale and Finney-Smith are viewed as key contributors to bolster the team’s defense.
O’Neale, on an expiring contract, emerges as a strong trade candidate, providing the Kings with flexibility. Meanwhile, Finney-Smith brings a solid defensive presence with two years remaining on his four-year, $55 million contract, including a player option for the last year.
