Detroit Pistons head coach Monty Williams thought Monte Morris did a solid job in his 2023-24 season debut during Wednesday’s 113-106 home win vs. the Charlotte Hornets (7 points/3 rebounds/3 assists/3-4 FG/1-1 3-PT/+3 +/-).

“He just knows how to play. He has his own pace. You could see what he was doing in pick-and-roll, his pace to hold the guy off and create the pocket space for our bigs to catch. And then the threat of him knocking down the shot is just huge for us. But his ability to just step out there first shot, he knocks down I think it was a three. His poise and experience is something that we desperately need, and it’s just good to see him out there on the floor. I thought the combination of he and Sass was great for us tonight because he’s a bit more methodical, and then Sass is like lighting in a bottle. I thought that was a good change of pace for us.”
