DeMar DeRozan to Pat Williams: Challenges shape you into a pro

Patrick Williams was absent from the game against Cleveland on Monday due to a right ankle sprain.

However, the Bulls’ power forward has not been making significant contributions on the statistics chart since the return of Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic from their injuries, as pointed out by Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun Times.

Williams has been relegated to the second unit, where he averaged 6.0 points and 2.6 rebounds before suffering the ankle injury.

DeMar DeRozan shared his perspective, advising Williams that the challenges he faces as a young player will ultimately shape him into the professional he needs to become.

Despite the current difficulty in understanding his role, DeRozan believes that Williams will gain appreciation for the highs and lows as he progresses in his career.

“What I try to explain to Pat is everything you go through as a young guy will mold you and turn you into the pro you need to be,” DeRozan said.

“Right now it can be tough trying to constantly figure out what’s needed from him, but my thing is once you get it you’ll find the appreciation of the ups and downs.”
