Heat interested in trading for Donovan Mitchell

According to sources from Marc Stein of Substack, the Miami Heat are actively interested in trading for Donovan Mitchell.

However, the Cleveland Cavaliers have consistently expressed no interest in entertaining a trade involving Mitchell.

It’s worth noting that Mitchell has the option to become a free agent in 2025 if he doesn’t sign an extension during the 2024 offseason.

This isn’t the first time the Heat have pursued Mitchell, as they also expressed interest in 2022. The team also showed interest in Damian Lillard in 2023.

While the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets are likely to be mentioned in any trade talks for Mitchell, several executives believe that the Heat are the primary team to keep an eye on.

This is attributed to how well Mitchell would complement their playing style and the perceived defensive shortcomings that he could address within their lineup.
