Lakers struggle to find takers for trade assets, Windhorst reports

As the NBA trade deadline looms, teams are actively exploring opportunities to enhance their rosters for the second half of the season. However, a recent report by NBA insider Brian Windhorst reveals a challenging scenario for the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Windhorst, on a recent episode of NBA Today, the Lakers are facing a lack of interest from other teams regarding the players they aim to trade.

In contrast to teams like the Toronto Raptors, who are fielding inquiries about Pascal Siakam, the Lakers find themselves in a situation where their assets are not as enticing to potential trade partners.

Windhorst explained, “There’s a lot of teams interested in calling the [Toronto Raptors] for Pascal Siakam. There’s no teams interested in calling the Lakers for the players that they want to trade,” as reported by Doric Sam of Bleacher Report. This puts the Lakers in a challenging position as they navigate the trade landscape leading up to the deadline.

As the Lakers embark on a crucial homestand, they face the dilemma of whether to make significant moves. However, Windhorst suggests that even if the Lakers are inclined to make trades, the current value of their players doesn’t match the high-value assets that teams like the Raptors have possessed in recent months.
