Pascal Siakam nears contract extension decision as deadline looms

As the contract extension deadline approaches, Toronto Raptors’ standout Pascal Siakam is facing a critical juncture in his future with the team.

Siakam, currently in the final year of his four-year, $137 million contract, has been engaged in discussions with the Raptors, aiming to secure a deal before the looming deadline.

According to Michael Grange of SportsNet, talks have been ongoing since the early days of the season, with both sides eyeing December 30 as a potential deadline to finalize a decision.

However, as the deadline approaches, no agreement has been reached, hinting at a possible gap between Siakam’s expectations and the three-year extension offered by the Raptors at the beginning of the 2022-23 season, which Siakam ultimately turned down.

Siakam’s performance this season has been noteworthy, with averages of 21.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists in 34.6 minutes per game.

The Raptors face a crucial decision in shaping their future, considering the significant financial commitment involved in a potential four-year, $192 million extension for the star player.
