Even on off-shooting nights, the Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum continues to contribute to the team, according to Souichi Terada of MassLive.

Despite a 6-of-15 performance from the field and 1-of-3 from beyond the arc in L.A., coach Joe Mazzulla was effusive in praising Tatum’s overall impact.

Mazzulla emphasized the need for Tatum to reinvent himself, highlighting the shift from mere sacrifice to a broader concept of reinvention.

Tatum’s evolving leadership qualities and the recognition of his value extend beyond scoring. The focus is now on playmaking and creating advantages for both teammates and himself.

“That’s what we talk about when he’s got to reinvent,” Mazzulla said. “It’s not so much sacrifice as it is reinvent. You’re starting to see what leadership looks like and what value looks like for him.

“… And so it’s just not being defined by just scoring, but being defined by playmaking. Being defined by how do you create advantages for your teammates and yourself.”
