In a thrilling contest, Kyle Kuzma’s stellar performance led the Washington Wizards (5-22) to a narrow 118-117 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers (7-20) on Thursday night. Kuzma’s 32-point contribution proved crucial as the Wizards secured their fifth win of the season.
Kuzma’s scoring outburst was supported by Tyus Jones, who added 16 points, and solid performances from Daniel Gafford with 14 points and eight rebounds. Jordan Poole and Deni Advija chipped in with 11 points each, contributing to Washington’s hard-fought victory.
Despite Washington holding an 18-point lead in the second half, the Trail Blazers, fueled by Anfernee Simons’ outstanding fourth-quarter display with 22 of his 41 points, managed to stage a comeback and level the score. However, Washington regained control, securing the victory in the final moments.
Deandre Ayton contributed 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Trail Blazers, while Jerami Grant added 20 points.
