Nick Young on today’s NBA: It’s all offense. No defense

In an exclusive interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson on Scoop B Radio, former NBA player Nick Young expressed his thoughts on the current state of the league, emphasizing the absence of defensive prowess in today’s NBA.

With a wistful smile, Young contemplated the prospect of playing in the present era, highlighting the stark difference in how the game is played.

“[Smiling] I wish I could get out there, man!” Young exclaimed. Reflecting on the past, he noted that players like himself and JR Smith would have been deemed “bad shotmakers” for attempting unconventional shots.

However, in today’s NBA, the landscape has evolved, allowing for an array of step-backs and flashy dribbles.

The former NBA player acknowledged the entertainment value of the contemporary game, citing instances like the Indiana Pacers scoring a staggering 150 points in some matchups. However, he underscored a prevailing sentiment: “It’s all offense. No defense.”

“Back then when players like me and JR [Smith] would shoot those shots, we would be ‘bad shotmakers’… But now? They can do all the step-backs and dribbles you want so, but it’s fun to watch and you see teams like Indiana getting up to 150 points in games so it’s all offense. No defense,” he said.
