Indiana Pacers’ Myles Turner expressed his satisfaction with the outcome of the Tyrese Haliburton-Domantas Sabonis trade, asserting that the Pacers came out on top.
The trade, completed on February 8, 2022, brought Haliburton, Buddy Hield, and Tristan Thompson to the Pacers in exchange for Sabonis, Justin Holiday, Jeremy Lamb, and a 2023 second-round pick.
In a recent interview with Sam Amick of The Athletic, Turner revealed his initial disenchantment with his role in the Pacers’ lineup before the trade.
The arrival of Haliburton and the departure of Sabonis, according to Turner, not only restored him to his preferred position but also provided him with a point guard capable of elevating the team’s offensive prowess.
Turner expressed his biased belief that the trade was a win for the Pacers, emphasizing the mutual benefit for both teams.
Since the trade, Haliburton has experienced significant growth, earning an NBA All-Star nod. Currently, he is averaging impressive numbers with 26.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 12.1 assists per game.
Haliburton’s stellar performance has played a crucial role in the Pacers’ success, leading them to the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament Final, where they are set to face the Lakers.
Simultaneously, Sabonis has continued to excel, earning three All-Star selections, including his recent appearance as a member of the Kings.
